Exciting opportunity for a Material Handler / Cycle Counter in New Berlin, Wisconsin!

The material handler is a key position and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, and inventory turns. Under limited supervision, this position will establish inventory accuracy through the process of cycle counting, verifying counts, and transaction reviews to assure inventory accuracy. This position will also partner with Leadership, Materials, and Shop Floor Team Leads to build out and enhance inventory and transactional processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate cycle count process for multiple locations.

  • Maintain a recordkeeping system of the facts, discrepancies and issues identified during the cycle counting or inventory process to maintain accurate data.

  • Ensure materials are in proper locations. Conduct search to locate misclassified material, and correct and consolidate bin inventories and locations as necessary.

  • Process and reconcile cycle count final variance reports.

  • Use a scanner to track inventory and conduct inventory cycle counts, as needed.

  • Move material and inventory to various production work cells.

  • Work with materials group to help realign inventory and supermarkets.

  • Work with the material handling group to make ensure parts are identified and labeled per the standard.

  • Communicate and develop process enhancements as needed (perform root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommend process improvements to eliminate them).

  • Open containers to count items and/or weigh materials to determine quantity on hand. Weigh and mark product displaying remaining product on hand.

  • Highlight areas of concern associated with inventory accuracy.

  • Identify and remove obsolete materials from active shelves, as directed through the OSMI process.

  • Pull ST/OT orders for outsourcing production parts.

  • Assist the Parts Department; pulling parts orders and preparing for shipment.

  • Assist the handlers in shipping and receiving, as needed.

  • Operate material handling equipment, including an overhead crane and forklift truck.

  • Focus, communicate, encourage, and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and improve inventory processes.

  • Organized thought process with high attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate results.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written/oral instruction.

  • Must have ability to perform basic math calculations.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a great attention to detail.

  • Strong computer skills, and experience using MS Office products and an ERP system.

  • Must be physically capable of lifting, pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds alone or greater with assistance.

  • Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties of cycle counting for the manufacturing operation.

  • Requires regular and prompt attendance.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

  • Education beyond a high school diploma, and/or training in materials / supply chain desired.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a cycle counting program with inventory error reconciliation preferred.

  • Previous work experience in material handling, and a general understanding of logistics desired.

Working Conditions

This position will work in an indoor office and a manufacturing environment including noise, with some time spent counting items stored outside.

This position may be required to lift up to 40lbs occasionally and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

The employee is frequently required to attend meetings. Specific abilities required by this job include comprehending voices and/or sounds and seeing visual instruments.

Tools & Equipment Used: Personal computer and other office equipment, including barcode scanners.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ability to recognize and wear appropriate PPE, including but not limited to: Safety glasses and hearing protection.
