Alamo Group Inc. Manufacturing Engineer in New Philadelphia, Ohio

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Integrate new vehicle models and or variants into existing facilities partnering with product design, the operations teams, or other sectors of operations.

  • Ensure successful ramp up and long- term sustained production through responsibilities in the facility layout, equipment needs, tools and other infrastructure in advance of launch.

  • Leads the development of assembly process flow, build sequence and logistics strategies to optimize for direct labor, quality, safety and other KPIs.

  • Evaluate and improve where necessary takt times then implement line re-rate projects based on that new information. Provide personnel requirements in relation to production operations beyond study.

  • Collaborates with technical writers to find constructive collaboration between technical information and production work instruction needs where applicable.

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors to assure instructional competencies.

  • Challenge assumptions that are not backed up by a thorough engineering evaluation when necessary.

  • Monitors operations with an eye toward improving productivity and efficiency.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.

  • Skills with 2D Cad (AutoCAD)

  • Skills with 3D Cad (Creo)

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing

  • Understanding of ergonomics

  • Project management skill

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree or AS with equivalent experiences.

  • Knowledge of engineering, mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic mechanisms as applied to construction type equipment.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, Adobe is a plus.

  • Standard business software packages.

  • 5 years’ experience in the Manufacturing Engineering field.

Working Conditions:

Work fifty percent in a climate-controlled office as well as in non-climate-controlled shop areas. Requires sitting for long periods of time, some standing, walking, stooping/reaching, climbing, manual dexterity, pushing/pulling, lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs. Will perform physical labor.
